    Hello, I'm Faseesin Ayokunumi

I'm a frontend-leaning Software Engineer based in Lagos, Nigeria. I build fast, performant applications across web and mobile using modern tools like React, Next.js, and React Native. But before I was pushing pixels and deploying code, my life looked a lot different!

    Background & Expertise

Before I was pushing pixels and deploying code, I was a full-time piano player! That musical discipline seamlessly carried over into my engineering career, which started in WordPress and SEO. However, hitting the limitations of plugins pushed me into custom development in 2021, and I haven't looked back since.

Today, I am a frontend-leaning engineer with a strong grasp of backend systems. Over the past 5+ years, I've built high-performance custom applications across diverse industries including EdTech, eCommerce, Web3 (smart contract interactions and wallet connections), Non-profits, and corporate business platforms.

    My Core Stack & Skills:

    • Frontend & Mobile: React, Next.js, React Native
    • Backend & APIs: Hono, Express.js, API Design, ORMs, SQL/NoSQL Databases
    • CMS & eCommerce: Headless CMS, Shopify (Liquid), WordPress custom themes

    My Workflow & Approach

I am a huge advocate for AI-assisted coding. I view AI not as a replacement, but as an incredibly powerful pair-programmer that helps me ship robust code faster, resolve complex logic efficiently, and focus on the higher-level architecture. No drama, just solutions.

When I'm not writing code or building custom portals, I'm usually spending time relaxing indoors, surfing the internet, catching up on my favorite YouTube shows, or playing the piano. I'm very much a homebody, but I do love to go out and "touch grass" once in a while!

I'm currently open to freelance projects and full-time opportunities (remote or hybrid). Whether you need someone for a quick performance audit, a custom web app, to join your core engineering team, or you're a non-technical founder who used AI to build an MVP and now needs a pro to fix the architecture and patch security holes—let's talk.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about timelines, project updates, and post-launch support.

What is your typical process for a new project?[+]
First, I get clear on what you're actually trying to solve, not just the feature list, but the real problem behind it. From there I sketch out the data model and API structure before writing any UI, since getting that wrong early is what causes rewrites later. I build in stages you can see and click through, not a single big reveal at the end.
Do you use AI tools in your development process?[+]
Yes, daily, and I don't hide that. I use it to move faster on boilerplate, explore approaches, and catch things I might miss. What I don't do is ship what it gives me without reading every line, testing it, and treating it the way I'd treat a junior dev's pull request. The judgment is still mine.
What happens if I need changes after the project is launched?[+]
There's a short warranty window for bug fixes and small tweaks, no charge. Past that, if you need ongoing feature work, I work either hourly or on a monthly retainer, whichever matches how steady the work is.
